On February 16th, 2018, the PedalCell team was awarded first place in the Michigan Business Challenge's Seigle Impact Track. After four months of competing alongside nearly 80 other companies in the university-wide competition, the PedalCell team, lead by Michigan team members Adam Hokin (COO) and Anna Moreira Bianchi (Business Strategy), was awarded $15,000 for first place in the Impact track after a full day of competing in both the Main track's semi-finals and Impact finals. The Impact track valued businesses that "best pursued a mission-driven goal through its product/service offerings and underlying operations of the firm".
The team also won the "Outstanding Presentation" Award (given to a total of two companies in the competition) worth $2,000 for "maintaining the judges' interest while relating the need for the company... and responding enthusiastically to difficult questions".
Hokin commented: "It's been a long four months and we're thankful that the judges recognized the hard work and sustainable-minded mission our team has been crafting over the past years. This momentum will definitely not stop here".
